Books For Everyone
Be sure your family has enough library materials for the weeks in October the library will be closed. We will close Saturday, September 29, 2007 and re-open for the Grand Opening on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. You will be able to return materials to our book drop at the new location at 456 Pratt Street in Starke.
Family Storytime is every Tuesday beginning October 30 at 10:00 a.m. Join us for Halloween stories, books, songs, poetry and crafts for pre-schoolers with a parent. Program lasts 45 minutes.

Summer Wrap and Back to School
255 children "Read All About It" for six weeks this summer while earning money to buy books and other items donated by Wal-Mart at our Bookstore Party.
As our new Library building is completed we will need to close tentatively in September and reopen in October 2007. Tentatively Family Storytime will begin on Tuesdays in October at 10:00 a.m. in the new Library. Additional program information to be announced.
Are your children ready for school? The Library has excellent resources to help your child do their best in school. Most of all make learning fun for your child. Try these titles to build math skills.
"The Mission of Addition" by Brian P. Cleary uses rhyme and humorous illustrations with child friendly examples to make math fun. Ages 5 to 8.
"Coyotes All Around" by Stuart J. Murphy. Laugh as Coyote tries to outwit his friends to get all the food. Ages 6 and up.
"Each Orange Had Eight Slices" by Paul Giganti, Jr. is an introduction to counting and simple addition for ages 3 to 8.
E. D. Hirsch has a series of books on what your child should know from Kindergarten to fifth grade.
Assist your child with our FCAT study guides with sample tests for higher scores at school.

July: Free to read!!
Children are excited about buying books and other items at our Library Bookstore Party on the 19th at 10:00 a.m. We are experiencing record attendance for programs! Our volunteers and parents have been a big help with crafts and refreshments. Thank you Altrusa and Kiwanis Clubs.
We still have great storytimes on Tuesdays and professional performances on Thursday. We even have an extra Saturday program on the 14th with Reptiles R Us at 10:00 at the Library.

Clifford the Big Red Dog and local celebrities visit the Library
Children are excited about earning Library money to spend at the Bookstore Party on July 19th. We have registered an all-time high number of children who are reading every day and "banking" their money. They will be able to buy books and other items donated to us.

Pam Shamel from WUFT-TV Channel 5 lead a workshop for parents and children recently. The highlight of course was the appearance of Clifford! The children love to have their pictures made with the red dog. Pictured is our new Reference Librarian, Robert Perone. Welcome Robert.
Local business women from Altrusa Club read, lead craft activities and provided refreshments.

Register children now for the Florida Library Youth Program 2007 at the Library. Children through grade five will receive a free book bag and a bank with $2.00 worth of free Library Money. For each seven days they read children can earn Library Money to buy books and other great items at the Bookstore Party on July 19, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Library!! Read All About It @ Your Library. The Florida Library Youth Program 2007 at Bradford County Public Library will begin on June 1, 2007. Calendars with program dates and complete details will be available at the Library on Friday, May 25, 2007. Children through grade five can register to receive a free book bag and a bank with $2.00 worth of Library money to spend at the Book Store Party on Thursday, July 19, 2007. Lots of books and art supplies will be for sale. Reading records may start on Friday, June 1 and continue through Saturday, July 14, 2007. Poetry Month

"Runny Babbitt" by Shel Silverstien is silly rhyming fun for any age.
"Animal Snackers" by Betsy Lewin is a collection of short poems describing the eating habits of many animals. Children's poetry can be found in the 808 and 811 shelves of non-fiction books as well as many picture books located on the Easy shelves of the children's books.

Family Storytime programs for families who work during the weekdays. Children through grade five with an adult can enjoy books, stories, poetry, music and a craft activity.
